IT Infrastructure Solutions in Namibia - Network Cabling and server setup

Structured Cabling and Data Installation

Most network problems people blame on their internet are actually cabling problems. A slow office, a
camera that drops overnight, a printer nobody can reach: the fault is usually in the wall, not the line
coming into the building.

M1 Technologies designs, installs and tests structured cabling for offices, warehouses, schools and government buildings across Namibia. We work to a standard so the next person who opens the cabinet can read it, and so you are not paying someone to trace an unlabelled cable in three years.

What we install

A structured cabling job with us covers the whole path from the wall socket to the switch port.

  • Data points and LAN port installation, from a single extra desk to a full floor
  • Cat6 and Cat6A copper cabling, supplied and terminated
  • Fibre backbone between floors, buildings and outbuildings
  • Server cabinet supply, installation and dressing, wall mounted or floor standing
  • Patch panel termination and labelling, so every port maps to a known room
  • Switch and router installation and configuration
  • Port extension, where you have run out of live points and need more without a rebuild
  • Cable management, trunking and containment

Private data networks between sites

If you have more than one building, a private data network keeps traffic between them off the public
internet. It is the right answer for a head office and branch, a warehouse behind a yard, or a campus with pseveral blocks. We build the link and manage the equipment at both ends. We are not an internet
provider, so the line itself stays with your ISP and we work alongside them.

How we work

Every installation starts with a site Assessment. We look at where the cabinet will live, how the cable will route, and what is already in the ceiling, because reusing what works is cheaper than a rebuild. You get a quote that lists points and materials, so you can see what you are paying for rather than a single number.

Every cable we terminate is tested and the results handed over with the labelling schedule. We hand over a full network setup, fully working, ready to plug-in your comp[uters!

Where we work

We install across Windhoek including City Centre (CBD), Rocky Crest, Dorado Park, Khomasdal, Klein Windhoek, Pioneers Park and the Southern Industrial area, and travel to the coast and northern towns for larger projects.

What it costs

Structured cabling is quoted per point and per metre, so the honest answer is that it depends on the
building. A small office adding eight points is a different job from a warehouse needing a fibre backbone.
Send us the floor plan or book a site walk and you will have a written quote with the points itemised.

FAQs for this page

1. What is structured cabling?

It is a planned cabling system for a building rather than cables added one at a time as needs come up. Every point runs back to a central cabinet and is labelled, so faults are found in minutes instead of hours.

2. Can you take on part of a project rather than all of it?

Yes. Plenty of clients start with cabling and add cameras or support later. The advantage of one supplier only matters if you want it.

3. How do you quote infrastructure work?

Per point and per metre for cabling, per device for security, monthly for support. A site walk gives us what we need to put it in writing.

4. Can you add points without redoing the whole office?

Usually yes. If the cabinet has spare capacity and the containment is there, port extension is a small job. If the cabinet is full, we will tell you before quoting.

5. Do you work with our existing equipment?

Where it is worth keeping, yes. We will tell you plainly when something is at end of life rather than quoting around it.

6. Do you supply the cabinet and switches too?

Yes. We supply, install and configure cabinets, patch panels, switches and routers, and we stock the brands we install.

7. Do you work outside Windhoek?

Yes, for projects that justify the travel. Send us the scope and we will tell you honestly whether we are the right fit.
